Alerts: Road Construction & Traffic Delays

11/03/25 – Crews are continuing work in two areas this week:

  • NTIA Project: Crews are continuing work in the Carpenter Lane area. Construction will also begin along Tish Tang Road, starting near Community Services Road and moving south.
  • SB156 Middle Mile: Glass Roots Construction crews will continue moving north along Highway 96, progressing through the next section of the route.

10/27/25  Crews are continuing work in two areas this week:

  • NTIA Project: Ongoing fiber installation in the Mill Creek Rd and Carpenter Ln areas.
  • SB156 Middle Mile: Crews are working north along Highway 96.

10/13/25 – Crews working on the Last Mile Job are currently in the Mill Creek Road area and may move toward Carpenter Lane by the end of this week. Crews are also continuing work north along Highway 96 near Hoopa Valley High School. We’re doing our best to minimize traffic disruptions, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times.

10/06/25 – Construction off Hwy 96 in the vicinity of Marshall Lane area and Mill Creek Road. Expect delays up to 15 minutes.

9/10/25 – Construction on Hwy 96 at mile marker 9.1. Expect delays up to 15 minutes.

9/08/25 – Construction on Hwy 96 at mile marker 10, then continuing south toward Mile Marker 9. Delays up to 15 minutes.

7/31/25 – Construction on Hwy 96 at mile marker 0.1. Delays up to 15 minutes.

7/08/25 – Construction Begins July 8 on SB156 Middle Mile Project

Construction will begin for the SB156 Middle Mile Project on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. This historic collaboration between HVPUD and the State of California marks the first joint broadband build between a Tribe and the state.

WHERE: Highway 96, starting at mile marker 0.5, proceeding north
DELAYS: Expect up to 15 minutes as crews work to safely install underground fiber optic cable.

Construction will continue throughout the summer, moving in segments from Willow Creek to Weitchpec.
This project will bring high-capacity fiber infrastructure to the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation and surrounding tribal lands, laying the groundwork for future broadband services.
